101 Ways to Happiness #20: Live One Day at a Time.

So there’s more than enough discussion around present moment living and taking one day at a time, but how do you really go about it? How do you go about “being the change you want to see in the world”?

How does it feel to live one day at a time?

HOw to experience present moment living one day at a timeWell…let me share my experience of how I came into present moment living taking one day at a time.

For me, it has been my diligence and intention to let go of suppressed and repressed emotions as they come up.

I have been using Dr. David R. Hawkins’s “mechanism of letting go” for years now, and the results and shifts in consciousness have been significant.

When you let go of “the energies” of the past and repressed and suppressed emotions, there’s no negatively oriented “energy” fueling the mind with thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and projections that are continually distracting.

Present moment living just “happens” on it’ds own accord as the “energies” have shifted into higher levels of consciousness that include:

Neutrality (calibrates at 250 on the Map of Consciousness®)— this is super freeing because you have been willing to let go of “being right” about anything and don’t need the tug of war of having to defend any positionality. This is a more powerful energy field, different than apathy or “giving up”. You are stepping into to freedom and power when you let go of the lower levels as they show up.

Willingness (calibrates at 310 on the MOC) — the energy of willingness is of higher consciousness and attracts the power of intention to you.  You need the power of willingness to help you let go of the past and help present to you the emotions that have been buried in your energy field.

Present moment living requires conscious attention to your own energy field and willingness to be the observer of your own way of being.

Become present with emotions that come up.

The intention to let go invites “old stuff” to come up. You need to learn to be present with every emotion that comes up and understand they don’t “mean” anything. They are just an expression of the intention to let go of old stuff.

Present moment living take one day at a time from the teachings of DR. David R. HawkinsIt’s all “old news” that doesn’t mean anything.

The confusion may be that the mind is making meaning out of the emotions. This is what the mind does! It’s not subjective. It just is what it is.

The energy of “old stuff” fuels the mind because the “fuel” for it is still in your energy field.

The process of surrender and letting go of “old stuff” requires the willingness to let go of the lower levels of consciousness that “juice the ego” Those lower-level ways of  being include:

  • perfectionist
  • prideful
  • righteous (having to be right)
  • angry
  • resentful,
  • bitter,
  • hateful,
  • fearful, and
  • grieving about something

All lower levels of consciousness calibrate below 200 on the Map of Consciousness®. There’s no judgement as to these ways of being, but the “energy” of them doesn’t serve the intention for present moment living one day at a time.  There’s no “gas in the tank” so to speak to fuel present moment living.

So there needs to be an understanding of what is required for happy, peaceful living and enjoying life one day at a time.

So, my experience is predominantly present moment living. I, without too much intention anymore, experience the enjoyment of taking one day at a time.

This experience includes feeling gratitude for things just come into your awareness.

The gratitude doesn’t need to be any grand gesture or being grateful for something really significant in your life.

Gratitude for the simple day-to-day enjoyments is sufficient.

Taking one day at a time with my pups - this is Charlie aka Jose Charlie BananasGratitude is gratitude regardless of the subject of your gratefulness.

Here’s an example:

  • I love my morning routine with my 3 dogs.
  • I love that they sit patiently and watch me prepare their 5-star meal.
  • I love that they thoroughly enjoy their meal, and mealtime is a loving peacefulness for all concerned.
  • I love the way Dancer drinks water from our water fountain with his whole body, and Edie drinks like a major league slobber-puss when drinking water.

The “energy” of gratefulness is 500-540 on the Map of Consciousness. It’s HUGE! This energy “fuels” the intention for present moment living and taking one day at a time.

Here’s some experience I have had with gratitude though.

There was a time when I didn’t have “fuel in the tank” to feel grateful about much. It felt insincere to be grateful. But as I continued the “letting go” process, the ability to be grateful came into my present moment living.

Raising your level of consciousness in order to experience present moment living and enjoy taking one day at a time takes practice, conscious intention, and willingness to let go of “juicing the ego”. LOwer consciousness is an impersonal attractor field that continues to attract whatever energy you give your attention to.

When you practice letting go of those energies, there’s no more magnetism for those in your life.

So this is my interpretation of Dr. Hawkins’ 101 Ways to Happiness Tip #20: Take One Day at a Time and experience the pleasure of present moment living that just kinda’ shows up on its own accord one day.

NOTES ABOUT CONSCIOUSNESS CALIBRATIONs IN GENERAL:

All calibrations are based on Dr. David R. Hawkins decades of research into consciousness, and the Map of Consciousness that came from this research, so as to put into context where true, constructive power really exists and where it doesn’t.

The Map of Consciousness is a logarithmic scale of 0-1,000, where 100 on the Map of Consciousness is 10 to the 100th power, 200 is 10 to the 200th power, etc. The higher you go up on the Map of Consciousness, the more quantum in nature the power level comes.

Any calibration below 200 holds no truth and no power and is destructive in nature.

TRUE POWER begins at 200 on the Map of Consciousness (10 to the 200th power) and it is the level of COURAGE. In order to turn around anything that’s negatively oriented in your life, you need to step into courage on the matter in order to do so.
