Section 1: Introduction

Welcome to a journey that transcends the limitations of our minds and leads us toward an immersive experience of Divine Grace. This is not just about understanding or intellectualizing; it’s about embracing and experiencing a reality that surpasses our mental constructs (400-499).

This blog post is inspired (390) by the consciously curated devotional  (540) clip that came from Dr. David R. Hawkins’s October 2002 lecture, “Karma and the Afterlife” Disk 1.

As we will explore here, Divine Grace (which is infinite in consciousness!) is not merely about accepting a blessing or a gift from a higher power. It’s about recognizing and immersing ourselves in the profound, omnipresent reality beyond our habitual patterns of thought– a reality often obscured by our incessant mentalization.

Overcoming mentalization, or the propensity to analyze and rationalize everything excessively, is crucial to genuinely experiencing this Divine Grace. When we’re trapped in our thoughts, we miss out on the richness of life that unfolds beyond the mind’s borders. But how do we transcend these limits? This question brings us to an extraordinary spiritual guide who offers valuable instruction on this path.

Dr. David R. Hawkins, renowned psychiatrist, spiritual leader, and author, has illuminated the way for countless individuals seeking to understand and experience Divine Grace. His teachings move beyond religious dogma, encouraging seekers to transcend the confines of their minds and awaken to the Divine Presence that pervades all of existence. Through his work, he invites us to step out of our mental constructs and bask in the radiant light of Divine Grace.

As we embark on this enlightening journey together, we’ll delve into captivating concepts, unravel profound truths, and discover practical ways to embrace Divine Grace in our daily lives. Are you ready to challenge your mind’s boundaries, quiet its chatter, and open yourself to a reality teeming with love, peace, and divine beauty? If so, let’s begin this transformative exploration into Divine Grace.

Section 2: Beauty Transcends the Mind

In our journey towards embracing divine grace, one powerful ally stands out: beauty. This is not simply the aesthetic appeal found in a picturesque landscape or an exquisite piece of art. Rather, it’s a deeper, all-encompassing beauty that transcends the limitations of the mind and profoundly impacts our perception. This beauty, as Dr. David R. Hawkins suggests, can serve as a gateway to a realm beyond intellectual comprehension.

The mind, with its ceaseless chatter and analysis, often becomes a barrier to direct experiences. However, beauty has the power to immobilize this incessant mental activity. When we encounter something beautiful, the mind stops, if only for a moment, allowing us to experience a reality beyond rational thinking. This interruption provides a glimpse into the profound serenity and joy of being present.

But what does this have to do with divine grace? Here lies the crux of the matter. Beauty, in its deepest sense, is an expression of divine grace. It’s not a concept to be discussed or intellectualized. Instead, it’s an awareness to be experienced. When we are moved by beauty, we are in fact witnessing the grace of God. This doesn’t mean that every beautiful sunset or melodious birdsong is a direct message from the divine. Instead, it implies that the capacity to perceive and appreciate beauty is a gift of grace that allows us to recognize the divine presence within and around us.

This understanding transforms our approach to beauty. No longer is it just about aesthetics, it becomes a pathway to the divine. By opening ourselves to beauty, we open ourselves to the grace of God, inviting a deeper, richer, and more fulfilling experience of life. So, the next time you find yourself captivated by a beautiful scene or moved by a piece of art, remember: that you’re not just appreciating beauty. You’re touching the divine.

As we continue this exploration into divine grace and the transcendence of the mind, let us bear in mind the transformative power of beauty. Let it serve as a reminder that the divine is not something distant or abstract but intimately woven into our everyday experiences’ fabric. The grace of God is always there; all we need to do is open our hearts to see it. As we progress on this journey, may we all be blessed with the gift of this profound awareness.

Section 3: Enamored of God, Not Thoughts

Continuing our journey towards divine grace, we now turn to the heart of the matter. It’s time to explore a compelling idea – what if we could shift our focus from being consumed by thoughts to becoming enamored of God? This concept is not about rejecting thought or reason but expanding our awareness to include a deeper, more profound experience.

Shifting Focus: From Thoughts to God’s Presence

Our minds are constantly buzzing with thoughts – planning, reminiscing, worrying, anticipating. They’re like ceaseless waves on an ocean, always in motion. But another realm of experience exists beyond this sea of mental activity. By shifting our focus from thoughts to the presence of God, we can tap into a sense of peace and fulfillment independent of external circumstances or internal mental states. This shift doesn’t mean we stop thinking or abandon logic. Instead, it’s about expanding our consciousness to include an awareness of something greater – something divine.

The Contrast: Mentalization versus Direct Experience

Mentalization, or understanding others and ourselves through our thoughts and perceptions, is essential to human cognition. It allows us to navigate the social world, empathize with others, and reflect on our experiences. However, when it comes to spiritual matters, mentalization has its limitations. The divine realm, as taught by spiritual leaders like Dr. David R. Hawkins, cannot be fully grasped through thought alone. It requires direct experience.

The direct experience of God’s grace is not a concept to be understood intellectually but a reality to be lived. It is a state of being where we are aware of God’s presence in and around us, beyond the confines of mental constructs or religious dogma. While mentalization can provide a map, the direct experience of God’s grace is the territory itself. It is the difference between reading about love and falling in love, between knowing about kindness and being kind.

So, how do we move from mentalization to direct experience? It begins by becoming enamored of God. Like a moth drawn to a flame, our hearts yearn for this divine connection. This infatuation is not a fleeting emotion, but an enduring, devotional state of being that transcends our thoughts and permeates our entire existence. We find inner peace, fulfillment, and a profound sense of belonging in this spiritual love affair.

As we navigate this journey, let us remember: to be enamored of God is not to reject thought but to go beyond it. It is to embrace a greater reality where divine grace flows freely and every moment is imbued with a deep sense of peace and fulfillment. It is a path where the mind, instead of being a master, becomes a servant to the heart’s longing for divine union.

Section 4: Discovering the Presence of God

We’ve embarked on the journey of understanding divine grace and how shifting our focus from thoughts to God can bring inner peace. Now we move further along this spiritual path, turning our gaze towards the discovery of God’s presence in all that exists.

The Gift of Discovery

Consider for a moment what it means to discover something new. It’s like finding a hidden gem waiting for you all along. That’s precisely how it feels when you uncover the presence of God in all that exists. This profound realization isn’t limited to religious texts or sacred spaces; it’s a pervasive reality in every atom of the universe. From the rustling leaves in the wind to a child’s laughter, every experience can reveal the divine if you’re attuned to its presence.

Surrendering Obstacles

Of course, such a realization may not come quickly. There are often barriers we’ve erected ourselves, consciously or unconsciously, which stand in the way. These can be preconceived notions, skepticism, or attachments to worldly pursuits. The key to moving beyond these obstacles is surrender. Letting go of these barriers doesn’t mean abandoning personal responsibilities or aspirations. Instead, it’s about recognizing their transient nature and understanding that there is a deeper reality beyond them. By surrendering, we open the door to the divine.

Openness and Willingness

But how do we cultivate this openness and willingness? They arise from humility and the acknowledgment that we don’t have all the answers. Embracing the unknown allows room for the divine to manifest in our lives. Openness and willingness are about being receptive to the divine grace that perpetually surrounds us. Just as a flower opens its petals to receive the nourishing sunlight, we too, can open our hearts and minds to receive God’s grace.

This journey of discovery isn’t linear; it’s an ongoing process of growth and understanding. Each step brings us closer to the divine presence that permeates our existence. As we navigate this path, remember that the sacred isn’t an abstract concept located far away in a distant realm. Instead, it’s a reality present here and now, waiting for you to discover and embrace it.

Section 5: Surrendering Gratification and Embracing Divinity

In our journey toward embracing divine grace, it becomes crucial to take a closer look at the gratification, satisfaction, and excitement we derive from thinkingness, feeling, and emotions. These aspects of our human experience often serve as distractions, pulling us away from the divine presence within us.

As humans, we’re naturally drawn to pleasure and satisfaction. We delight in the thrill of intellectual and emotional pursuits, which offer temporary fulfillment. Yet, these are transient and fleeting, leaving us in a constant state of wanting more. This cycle of seeking and not finding can become a barrier to experiencing the divine beyond the realm of thought and emotion.

Renowned spiritual leader Dr. David R. Hawkins emphasizes the need to transcend these animal instincts and human thought patterns to connect with the divinity within indeed. We must realize that the essence of our existence isn’t confined to our minds or feelings. Instead, it’s a profound, unchanging truth that resides deep within us, waiting to be discovered.

Embracing Our Innate Divinity

So, how do we surrender our human tendencies and embrace this innate divinity? The first step is recognizing that our thoughts and emotions aren’t the ultimate reality. They are tools for navigating the world, but they aren’t the core of who we are. This recognition can lead to a shift in perspective, enabling us to see beyond our mental and emotional landscapes.

Next, we need to cultivate an attitude of surrender. This doesn’t mean giving up or resigning ourselves to fate. Rather, it’s about releasing our grip on control and letting go of the illusion that we can manage, manipulate, or predict every aspect of our lives. In surrendering, we create space for the divine to enter and guide us.

Finally, it’s essential to foster a deep sense of reverence for the divine presence within. This goes beyond mere intellectual acknowledgment – it’s a lived experience that permeates every aspect of our lives. By treating ourselves and others with kindness, compassion, and respect, we honor this divine presence and make it more tangible in our daily existence.

Practical Exercises

Here are some practical exercises to help you on your journey towards surrendering gratification and embracing divinity:

  • Mindful meditation: Spend a few minutes each day in silence, observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. This can help you develop a detached awareness, making it easier to surrender these aspects when they arise.
  • Gratitude journaling: Write down three things you’re grateful for each day. This practice can shift your focus from seeking satisfaction from external sources to appreciating the divine grace already present in your life.
  • Acts of kindness: Engage in small acts of kindness towards yourself and others. This is a simple yet powerful way to honor the divine presence within all beings.

Remember, embracing divine grace is a journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself and take one step at a time. Your efforts will bear fruit in their own time, leading you deeper into the heart of the divine.

Section 6: The Unmanifest and Manifestation

As we journey deeper into the realm of divine grace, we encounter concepts that challenge our conventional understanding. One such concept is the relationship between the unmanifest and the manifest. Often, we are so engrossed in the tangible aspects of life—the manifest—that we overlook the underlying reality—the unmanifest. This unmanifest represents the formless divine grace, the raw potentiality from which all existence sprouts.

The connection between the unmanifest and the manifest resembles the relationship between a seed and a tree. Though small and unassuming, the seed holds within it the potential for a towering tree. This potential is unmanifest, unseen yet potent. When conditions are right, this potential is activated, leading to the growth and development of the tree—the manifest. Similarly, divine grace can be seen as the unmanifest potential within us, waiting to blossom into a fuller, more spiritually aligned existence.

This leads us to a profound realization: existence arises from the manifestation of the unmanifest. The physical world we experience, including our thoughts, emotions, and sensory perceptions, are all expressions of this manifestation. They are the ‘energy of life’ emerging from the dormant potential of the unmanifest. Every moment, every breath, every thought is an affirmation of this divine energy coming into existence. Recognizing this can imbue our lives with a sense of sacredness and reverence.

Now, let’s consider divine creation. In most spiritual traditions, God is regarded as the ultimate creator, the source of all existence. In the context of our discussion, this divine creation involves the transition from the unmanifest to the manifest. It’s a process that underscores the inherent divinity of all things. Each flower, each wave, and each star in the sky is a testament to this divine creation. They are physical manifestations of the unseen, formless grace of God.

By understanding these concepts, we can deepen our connection with the divine and foster an appreciation for the sacredness of existence. We can see beyond the superficial and recognize the divine grace that permeates all things. This understanding allows us to move beyond the limitations of the mind and enter a space of deep reverence and gratitude—a space where we truly embrace the divine.

Section 7: The Innate Awareness of God’s Presence

As we delve into the spiritual journey, it’s essential to recognize a fundamental premise: the awareness of God’s presence is not something that must be cultivated or acquired; it is innate within us. This concept may seem abstract or even bewildering. However, many spiritual traditions assert that an intrinsic awareness of divinity exists within our consciousness, akin to a quiet voice or an inner light guiding us on our path.

The nature of this awareness can be likened to the sun’s rays that permeate through a cloudy sky. Despite the obscurity of the clouds, the sunlight is ever-present. Similarly, the recognition of God’s presence, the source of our existence, is a constant within us.

Amid the noise and distractions of worldly life, this ‘inner sun’ might appear concealed but is perpetually shining, waiting to be acknowledged.

Significance in Our Spiritual Journey

Discovering this inherent awareness is a transformative moment in our spiritual journey. It shifts the paradigm from seeking God outside ourselves to recognizing God within us. This shift has profound implications. It means that we are never separated from God and that divine grace is not an external reward but an internal realization. It helps us transcend the dualistic mindset of ‘self and other,’ ‘sacred and profane,’ bringing us closer to unity and wholeness.

Moreover, this innate awareness serves as a compass guiding us toward alignment with our true nature. Just as a flower naturally turns towards the sun for nourishment, our soul intuitively moves towards the divine light within us, seeking sustenance and growth. When we tune into this inner wisdom, we can navigate the complexities of life with greater ease and confidence.

Addressing Doubts and Skepticism

At this juncture, you may have doubts or skepticism about the presence of God within yourself. This is natural and part of the growth process. It’s important to remember that the language of spirituality is often symbolic and metaphorical, seeking to express the ineffable. The term ‘God’ may be understood as the ultimate reality, the source of all existence, or our highest potential, depending on one’s belief system.

Moreover, each individual’s journey to recognize this divine presence is unique. It could emerge through deep meditation, contemplative prayer, an encounter with nature, a moment of intense love, or even while suffering. It’s not about conforming to certain dogmas or ideologies but exploring, questioning, and growing at your own pace. Ultimately, the pursuit is to experience a profound sense of connectedness, peace, and fulfillment.

As we continue to peel back the layers of our understanding, we become more open to the possibility of divine grace existing within us. This awareness can be a beacon of hope during challenging times and a catalyst for our transformation. It invites us to transcend the confines of our conditioned thinking and embrace the limitless potential that lies within.

Breaking Barriers and Overcoming Identification

The journey towards embracing divine grace is not without its obstacles. One of the most common barriers that prevent us from fully experiencing this divine connection is our identification with worldly attachments. Our minds are often consumed by materialistic desires, ambitions, and fears, which can hinder our spiritual progression.

These attachments, whether they are to our possessions, status, or relationships, serve as distractions that cloud our perception of the divine. They create a false sense of identity that obscures our true essence, which is intrinsically linked to God. This is where the process of breaking these barriers begins; by recognizing and acknowledging the transient nature of these attachments, we can start to disentangle ourselves from them.

Embracing Surrender and Self-Reflection

The act of surrender plays a critical role in overcoming these identifications. Surrender here does not mean defeat or loss. Instead, it signifies letting go of our resistance and opening ourselves to the flow of divine grace. This surrender is an acceptance of our true nature, a recognition that we are not separate entities but part of the divine whole.

Alongside surrender, self-reflection is a powerful tool in this process. By turning our attention inward, we can examine our thoughts, emotions, and actions more closely. Through this introspection, we can identify the ways in which our attachments are holding us back and begin to release them.

The Power of Letting Go and Embracing Divinity

To illustrate the transformative power of this process, consider the metaphor of a clenched fist or the hold of an eagle’s talons. When our hand is tightly clenched, it cannot receive anything new. But when we open our hands, we create space for unique gifts to enter. Similarly, releasing our attachments allows divine grace to flow into our lives.

Consider also the story of the ancient sage attached to his scholarly knowledge. His mind was so filled with intellectual understanding that there was no room for divine wisdom to enter. Only when he emptied his cup, so to speak, could he truly experience the holy.

These examples illustrate the transformative power of letting go and embracing divinity. We open ourselves to a deeper connection with the divine as we release our attachments and identifications. This process may be challenging, but the rewards are immeasurable. As we break these barriers, we move closer to experiencing the fullness of divine grace in our lives.

Conclusion – Embracing Divine Grace as a Path

In this journey through understanding divine grace, we have traversed many concepts, from the transcendent beauty that immobilizes the mind to the profound experience of God’s presence in all existence. We’ve discussed how the fascination with God can eclipse the mind’s endless chatter, leading us toward inner peace and fulfillment. The message has been clear: embracing divine grace is a transformative path that can lead us beyond the confines of mentalization to a richer, more profound spiritual existence.

NOTES ABOUT CONSCIOUSNESS CALIBRATIONS IN GENERAL:

All calibrations are based on Dr. David R. Hawkins decades of research into consciousness, and the Map of Consciousness® that came from this research, so as to put into context where true, constructive power really exists and where it doesn’t.

The Map of Consciousness® is a logarithmic scale of 0-1,000, where 100 on the Map of Consciousness® is 10 to the 100th power, 200 is 10 to the 200th power, etc. The higher you go up on the Map, the more quantum in nature the power level comes.

Any calibration below 200 holds no truth and no power and is destructive in nature. See more about the lower levels of consciousness here.

TRUE POWER begins at 200 on the Map (10 to the 200th power) and it is the level of COURAGE. In order to turn around anything that’s negatively oriented in your life, you need to step into courage on the matter in order to do so. See more about the higher levels of consciousness here.
