How can that be when the majority of humankind experiences the mind as constantly spinning and processing information?
Dr. Hawkins comes from a significantly higher level of consciousness in explaining this as he has transcended the mind and experiences life with a completely silent mind.
I can accept this as a reality as I too have experienced a complete silencing of my mind for a short period of time. Unfortunately at the time, I had fear about this!?!
Now I know better.
There is nothing to fear.
Dr. Hawkins invites you to understand that 99% of the mind is silent and 1% is what you are listening to.
If you look underneath thought or the thinking ness which is the noise going on in your mind, there is an infinite profound stillness and silence.
So instead of bemoaning the fact that you can’t get the mind to stop thinking, then Dr. Hawkins advises you to stop trying and instead give your attention to the infinite stillness.
The mind needs a backdrop in order to be heard. The infinite field provides that backdrop.
Dr. Hawkins provides an example of hearing a bird in the forest. You couldn’t hear the bird if it weren’t for the contrast of the silence in the woods.
So he suggests that you look for and become one with the silence.
This is part of your life becoming the prayer.

I am a student of Dr. David R. Hawkins Teachings. I have come to quiet the mind by applying his mechanism of letting go. I explain how to let go, using Dr. Hawkins’ mechanism of letting go (650*) here.
I have come to understand, that the mind is fueled by suppressed, repressed, and unprocessed emotions. When you “let go of” or surrender those buried energies, the mind gets quieter. There’s no “fuel” or “energy” to activate the mind. This is how I quiet my mind very effectively.
This is likely a leap for you if you continue to struggle with quieting the mind.
I am more of a contemplative type, an observer of my own way of being, as well as observing what is coming from others as a mirror to me.
So how can you quiet your mind by taking a different route than meditation?
STEP 2: Understand that it doesn’t “mean” anything that old stuff is presenting itself to you to be released. So ignore the rabbit hole of the mind wanting to “make meaning” out of it. This is the “fuel” that the mind has been given from the “well” of buried emotions. The thoughts and feelings are just the type of energy that’s presenting itself to you. This is how the mind uses fuel.
Understand that this is “OLD NEWS”.
STEP 3: Learn how to “let go” and surrender the old stuff. Letting go is not necessarily what you may perceive it to be. It requires conscious awareness and understanding of how to do it. When you do, the mechanism of letting go can be like a rocket ship for how to quiet your mind and make a significant shift in your perceptions of life.
STEP 4: Set intentions (310*) to quiet your mind. To do so empowers you with the “energy” you need to get the energy flowing in a constructive way.
STEP 5: Open your mind to all of the above as you are stepping into higher consciousness in each step. You need higher consciousness to “fuel” your intentions. There is no “energy” in the lower levels of consciousness that fuel the mind for many. To be OPEN calibrates at around 310, which is the level of willingness on the Map.
STEP 6: Be aware that when you set your intention to let go of buried stuff, then life will present you with opportunities to “see” what’s still buried within you. Those opportunities for “seeing” will show up as common triggers. The key is to remember that you “asked for it” and to NOT REACT. This is the opportunity to allow the energy of the reaction to come up and pass through you.
This is different than repressing it again!
It’s OK that it’s there. Don’t disparage yourself for having the feeling. Just allow the energy of the feeling to pass through you. Even say out loud or to yourself, I am willing to allow this feeling to pass through me now.
In your willingness to allow it to pass through you, you will experience a lightness.
This is a sign you have let this buried energy go.
